23 New Chemical Substances Added to the TSCA Inventory

On February 22, 2024, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) updated its Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Inventory for the first half of 2024. The updated TSCA Inventory contains a total of 86,741 chemical substances, of which 42,293 are active. The latest update adds 23 new chemicals compared to the August 2023  Inventory.

What should enterprises do after the addition of an active substance?

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is a critical U.S. regulation aimed at protecting health and the environment by managing chemical substances. When TSCA identifies a chemical as "active," it means the chemical is in use in the U.S. and must meet certain regulations.

Flying Eagle Industrial Group Limited has systematically reviewed it’s products compliance regarding the following substances

  • 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol: Toxic for reproduction; Persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic. Used in manufacturing and fuel products.
  • 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol: Very persistent and very bioaccumulative. Common in air care products and coatings.
  • 2-(dimethylamino)-2-[(4-methylphenyl)methyl]-1-[4-(morpholin-4-yl)phenyl]butan-1-one: Toxic for reproduction. Found in inks, toners, and coatings.
  • Bumetrizole: Exhibits very persistent and very bioaccumulative properties. Present in coatings and cleaning products.
  • Oligomerisation and alkylation reaction products of 2-phenylpropene and phenol: Also identified as very persistent and very bioaccumulative. Used in various applications.
